Karting
Wanting to make the most of the summer evenings SAM decided to go karting as one of the monthly meetings. Thankfully the rain came when we were in the car park, but when it was time for action the sun was back and it was a lovely evening.
There was a safety briefing and introduction to the karts for those of us that hadnt been before, then we were kitted up. Suddenly a tall mysterious man dressed all in black crashed through the doors, pulled out a box of chocolates, threw them on the table and left.
Once all kitted up we were led out to the karts. Alan decided that he was going to intimidate us all with his version of a haka
Sadly for him the effect was ruined as we all retaliated with three rounds of the hokey cokey
You put both arms in, both arms out :)
Aaaaaand.....they're off!
A frantic 15 minute familiarisation and practice session saw some fairly steep learning curves, some 'interesting' lines and decided the grid positions for the actual race.
The race was scheduled for half an hour, and saw some keen racing
with some people making use of their experience, and others benefitting from a healthy power to weight ratio. The end result was a lot of happy people, very few crashes or 'racing incidents' and some very warm tyres. Once the stewards had finished their enquiries the winner was declared as......Alan Johnson
Congratulations to him, and also Terry Harris who was declared to be the 'Most Improved Driver' by the marshalls
Many thanks to all the marshalls, mechanics and staff at Warden Law Karting, who made the night a lot of fun and kept us all on track
